Transformative research on vertical lift aircraft is conducted in the Alfred Gessow Rotorcraft Center. One of only three Vertical Lift Research Centers of Excellence in the country, designated by the U.S. Army, Navy, and NASA, the center conducts cutting-edge research in rotorcraft acoustics, aerodynamics, dynamics, structures and flight mechanics and controls, in collaboration with industry. The center houses unique experimental facilities such as Mach-scaled helicopter and tiltrotor rigs, acoustic chamber, hover tower, ship-deck platform, and vacuum chamber, which are used for fundamental research and offers a structured graduate curriculum for effective and exciting education to the next-generation of rotorcraft engineers.
