Abstract: UMD won third place at the international IROS 2018 Autonomous Drone Racing competition this past October, scoring as best US team amongs all 14 participants. We discuss the hardware (flight platform, sensors, computers), and software (computer vision, usage of given data, navigation) we integrated for our successful flight. Finally, we want to talk about our lessons learned and our next plans.
Come learn about the details for next year's competition and how you can be part of it.
About the Robotics Student Seminars: The Robotics Student Seminars at the University of Maryland College Park are a student-run series of talks given by current robotics students.
The purpose of these talks is to:
- Encourage interaction between Robotics students from different subfields;
- Provide an opportunity for Robotics students to be aware of and possibly get involved in the research their peers are conducting;
- Provide an opportunity for Robotics students to receive feedback on their current research;
- Provide speaking opportunities for Robotics students.
